Cooking-Hamburgers-Mrs Gully's Last Day

Today was Mrs Gully's last day at our school, so we could choose what we could make. My group was Nathan K, Cailan and Ethan. Our objective was to use teamwork and responsibility because we were using hot pans and sharp knifes. We chose to make Hamburgers and they turned out really good.

Term 2 Weeks 5-6


Purpose of this reading activity is to: increase our knowledge of space
exploration and understand how our knowledge and ideas about space have
changed over time (science).
We are also learning to read non-fiction texts and use our writing skills to
share our understanding of this topic and our ideas (literacy).
Throughout this task we will need to use the skills of ‘Thinking’ and using
‘Language, Symbols and Text.’

I am learning to use sub-headings to guide me to the main ideas in text.
I am learning to summarise the main ideas in the texts I read.

         I think Galileo Galilei made the biggest contribution to space because
he discovered a lot of amazing stuff about our solar system like all the moons
orbiting Jupiter, lunar craters and the different phases of Venus.
Also he did more discoveries in his life and he invented the first telescope.



    2) What do you think was the most important machine or invention in
helping us investigate space? Why? (summarising key ideas)
I think the International Space Station is the most important machine or
invention in helping us investigate space because it has discovered a lot of
new things in our solar system and it plays a big part on Earth because it finds
things on the Earth’s surface.


    3) What would you like to investigate about space? Why?
I would like to learn about black holes because I want to know if they actually
suck up solar systems and other types of stuff.

My Planet Writing

Focus


We are continuing to look at descriptive writing.
This week you are writing a descriptive piece of writing to promote your imaginary planet.
You aim is to convince people to move to your planet.
You
want your writing to allow the reader to be able to imagine what it is like on your planet.


First, we will look at an excerpt of a video describing the moon from the Avatar movie.

we will discuss together what you will need in your work to make it successful and look at
how to plan our work.
Then you will plan your work and check with a teacher before you start writing.

Earthoropis


100 million light years away from Earth there is a planet called Eathoropis in a galaxy called The Tree Trunk Star Galaxy.

There are many different types of creatures and aliens on my planet and also lots of friendly mutants. They also have different types of names for each creature.

You can only get there by a magical flying bus that can teleport to other dimensions. There is only five of these buses in the whole entire universe. You will be lucky to get to look at this planet.

My whole planet is basically huge cities like Tilted Towers and many other big cities.

If you do make it there you will be totally safe because the atmosphere there is the exact same as  Ao (Earth). That's how all the humans and creatures survive on the planet.

On Friday the 8th of June we did cooking challenge. This time we made chocolate sponge. This time we got to choose our teams. I went with Cailan, Jack and Ethan, I really enjoyed it. The purpose was to follow the recipe and have teamwork to make the sponge cake.

The best part of me is my WaeWae because they help me to kick a ball, and help me to juggle a ball. They help me to achieve all the sports I can achieve. They cling onto my bike like pegs. My legs make me jump like a kangarū. They help me to run as fast as a Cheetah.  My legs are as flexible as a slippery slidey nākahi (snake). My WaeWae is the best part of me because they help me do the things I love doing.

Cooking

Today on Friday morning all of the year 6's had a challenge to make a pizza with other people in our class. We had to be in groups of four and one group of five. In my group was Ethan, Lincoln R and Lily. 


Ethan and I made the base and Lily and Lincoln made the toppings. We all liked different toppings so we had to split it in half.
